Wołoszyn House
2,155 m a.s.l. · High Tatras
120 m² · 4 bedrooms · 3 bathrooms + WC · living room upstairs · up to 10 guests
A house that looks out at Wołoszyn.
The living room is upstairs, higher up and closer to the mountains. A long table, a fireplace, and a view that reaches further from up here. Three bedrooms are on the ground floor, quiet and cool for sleeping, and the fourth is upstairs, next to the living room, with its own private bathroom.
Peak: Wołoszyn House
Wołoszyn is a long ridge with several summits; the highest, Wielki Wołoszyn, rises to 2,155 m. The name most likely comes from the Vlachs, shepherds who moved with their flocks along the Carpathian arc between the 14th and 17th centuries. Podhale owes them its shepherds' huts, its oscypek cheese and its summer grazing on the high meadows. Today the ridge lies within the strictly protected zone of the Tatra National Park and no trail leads to it. Between the rocks grows the least primrose, one of the smallest flowers in the Tatras. The first winter ascent was made in 1908 by Mieczysław Karłowicz, a composer who loved the mountains so much that he wrote music about them.
